Solenoid Bolts

Solenoid bolts are often poorly misunderstood components of electronic access control systems. A solenoid bolt provides concealed, high-security electric locking using electromagnetically induced bolt projection. When energised, internal solenoids retract steel bolts into the lock body. On the other hand, heavy-duty springs drive the same bolts into the frame receivers when the solenoid bolts are de-energised.

This mechanism creates positive mechanical securing (or locking), impossible to defeat by prying or shimming. Hence, an electric bolt is an excellent tool for preventing property attacks like theft and burglary.

Available in fail-safe (the bolts retract during power outages) and fail-secure (bolts stay extended even with power loss, making them ideal in server rooms and places with sensitive storage) configurations, solenoid bolts are perfect for doors requiring discretion and strength. Mortise versions can hide entirely within door edges to keep your door’s clean aesthetics. Meanwhile, surface-mount models guarantee sweat-free installation.

At Locks & Handles our ’ inventory of top-quality solenoid bolts features only those from reputable brands like Alpro and TSS. Every SKU is examined to ensure quality, enabling you to successfully complete your build.
