Compared to boxed power supply units (PSUs) with their complex components and functions, plug-in power supply units are the simplest and most practical way to power basic access control installations. They’re like your ordinary mobile phone charger adaptor that you plug straight into standard 13A sockets. Once plugged, the PSU automatically transforms mains voltage to low-voltage DC required by the electronic components of a modern access control system (like locks and controllers).

Plug-in power supply units are perfect for single-door installations, residential applications, retrofit projects (where running dedicated power cables is simply impractical), and other situations where power outages aren’t an issue. Quality PSUs provide stabilised power output and thermal protection so your access control system components don’t overheat during continuous operation. Unfortunately, these devices don’t have a battery backup. That means your door locks automatically disengage (or unlock) during power cuts.

Our plug-in PSUs meet the UK’s electrical safety standards and are properly rated for the demands of modern access controls. They might be insufficient for power-hungry maglocks, but they work beautifully on small solenoid bolts, standalone keypad locks, and even electric strikes.
