Chain Openers & Operators

When your windows play hard-to-get at ceiling height, chain openers and operators will bring them down to earth. These clever contraptions are mechanical window opening systems designed to provide sweat-free operation of windows positioned beyond normal reach. For example, high-level roof windows and clerestory glazing (even upper transom panels) can benefit from chain operators and openers. These ingenious devices feature a chain mechanism connected to the window sash via geared operators. They allow comfortable ground-level control of windows that could otherwise remain permanently closed (or even require a ladder to adjust).

Modern chain operators have smooth-operating geared mechanisms and corrosion-resistant stainless steel (mostly) chains mated to locking mechanisms that secure windows at any desired position. Beyond convenient operation of beyond-normal-reach windows, chain openers and operators have safety functions, too. They can prevent the risks associated with ladder work while ensuring adequate fresh air in spaces with high windows.

At Locks & Handles we supply chain operators in various lengths to accommodate different installation heights. We have direct-fix and side-mounted configurations to ensure you can install the right one for your existing setup. You can pick from heavy-duty commercial grade items or even domestic versions for standard residential applications. Whichever you pick, we’ll be there to help.
