Description
The TSS NKS Lockset is an alternative bathroom mortice lock and handle set for disabled toilet doors. It is a direct replacement for RADAR and NKS locks but is not handed, so the latch can be reversed. To reverse the latch simply remove the faceplate, rotate the latch to your chosen position and replace the faceplate.
Its features a latchbolt which is operated by a special NKS (National Key Scheme) Key and Lever Handle which are included in the set. NKS and RADAR Keys are compatible and can be used interchangeably.
A RADAR key (which stands for The Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation), also known as an NKS key, is a blue, red or silver-coloured key that opens more than 10,000 disabled toilets across the UK. RADAR keys are used by some 400 local authorities to allow disabled people access to locked, accessible toilets, while providing protection against vandalism and misuse.
The Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation, which is now Disability Rights UK, created the National Key Scheme (NKS) and the first RADAR locks were fitted in 1981 to help keep accessible toilets free and clean for disabled people.
